Happy Fall!
As the seasons change, I find myself welcoming the fall and the changes it brings. My summer ended with life events that took their toll. My 88-year-old father passed away in mid-August from COVID-19. I was grateful to have my four siblings by my side during this time. Managing his medical care from afar and not being able to be with him when he needed us was heart wrenching. I also had my own health challenges as I was diagnosed with an eye infection that kept me out of commission for a while. I am feeling much better and tapering off from regular doctor visits and medication. Yay!!!
As I have been healing, I have been working on keeping myself in balance. I wanted to share with you a few of the “tools” that I have found helpful. Here is a list of my “fall favorites”.
This podcast is hosted by Cory Muscara, offering insights and practices into how to live a fulfilling life. What I love about this podcast is that it offers daily, short messages that are easy to listen to when you don’t have a lot of time. I also like that he has take-away strategies that you can apply to managing different feelings and experiences.
Recently, I have been obsessed with webinars! Niroga Institute often has free webinars along with Breathe for Change. Sign up for their mailing lists to stay in the loop about upcoming classes. Breathe for Change also has free mindfulness lessons for in person and online learning.
James is the SEL (social-emotional learning) mindfulness specialist for the Austin, TX Independent School District (AISD). He makes these awesome short daily videos featuring breathing and other mindfulness techniques. They are great for personal use or to share with children of all ages.
Just for fun!! Okay… this has nothing to do with mindfulness. I just love Rob Lowe and I love learning about celebrities’ lives. Rob interviews guests from the world of movies, TV, sports, music, and culture. Remember, it’s all about balance, right?
There you have it. My fall favs! I hope that you find some quiet, some fun and some peace in the days ahead.
Be well, be here, be you,
Jane
