My Story
Hello there and thank you for visiting Breathe and Move! My name is Jane and I love all things mindfulness! I have been growing my personal mindfulness practice for the past seven years and it has truly changed my life.
I have struggled with anxiety since I was a child, always comparing myself to others, fearing the “what ifs” and having a need to control situations. I have spent much of my adult life “doing” and not “being.” Practicing meditation and yoga has helped me to slow down, face my fears and follow my heart. Of course, I still have bad days, but I take comfort in knowing that I have “tools” to help me manage life’s difficult moments.
I have been a school social worker for over 25 years. I have always had a passion to serve children and feel completely at home in the school environment. I became a Certified Yoga Calm Youth Instructor in 2017. This experience transformed how I work with students and support staff. I “breathe and move” with students all day long!
My mom passed away in June of 2018. As I was navigating the grieving process, I felt a strong need to live with intention and seize the moment. This led me to becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) in May of 2019. This experience was transformational and affirming personally and professionally.
To me, mindfulness is all about self-care. My hope is to empower others to live a mindful life so that they are better able to take care of themselves and those around them. I love growing my knowledge base and learning from others. This site was born as a means to share resources with adults who want to grow their own mindfulness practice and teach mindfulness to children.
I have been married to my husband John, for 27 years and I am mom of two awesome young adults, Justin and Josie. I am grateful to have four of my five siblings living nearby as well.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story. I am excited to continue my learning as I develop this site and I hope that you will come along for the ride! Together we can learn, reflect and create a more mindful world.
Be well, be here, be you,
With love,
Jane
