Respiratory Physiotherapy consulting with a client

Expert respiratory physiotherapy services to optimise your breathing, improve movement, enhance health and boost wellbeing across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

Why we exist

Breathing is the centre of everything we do. If you are not breathing then you are not living, and if you are not breathing well, are you really living well?

Respiratory physiotherapy supports people to breathe at their best, manage their health conditions, optimise their quality of life and improve performance.

We approach breathing and fitness from both a clinical and wellness perspective.

We use evidence-based techniques, combined with physical training and 1:2:1 coaching to deliver tangible and sustainable results which make a difference to your life.

Respiratory Physiotherapy

Respiratory Physiotherapy promotes breathing well for optimum health. Whether it is managing a respiratory condition such as asthma, fixing a dysfunctional breathing pattern or managing hyperventilation and anxiety driven symptoms.

A comprehensive Initial Assessment can help to explore unexplained respiratory symptoms, support the management of costochondritis and gain further understanding of long term conditions such as long covid.

Conditions we can support include Asthma, COPD, Bronchiectasis, Chronic Cough, Dysfunctional Breathing, Hyperventilation Syndrome, Anxiety related breathing issues, Long Covid and Post-ICU rehabilitation.

  • An introductory, 15-minute video call to explore if respiratory physiotherapy is suitable for you. The cost of this session will be refunded from the cost of your Initial Assessment if you decide to proceed.

  • During this video call we will carry out a comprehensive overview of your circumstances including your medical history, background, the problems you are experiencing, your goals and your physical presentations. As part of the Initial Assessment you will also receive a personalised summary and a plan for further management.

  • Follow Up Sessions can be booked on an ad-hoc basis once you have first completed an Initial Assessment. During these video call Follow Up Sessions we will review your progress, assess any ongoing problems, introduce further management techniques and progress any exercises as required.

  • The Breathe & Move Plan includes your Initial Assessment and our recommended 4 Follow Up Sessions via video call. This will give us the chance to provide you with the support you need over a timeframe that makes sense, at a more affordable price than booking one session at a time.

  • We can provide support for a number of conditions including asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, chronic cough, dysfunctional breathing, hyperventilation syndrome, long covid, anxiety related breathing issues and post-ICU rehabilitation.

  • If you have been diagnosed with a respiratory condition then respiratory physiotherapy can help you fully understand that condition and how to effectively manage it.

We can also provider longer term support than what is typically offered by the NHS.

Respiratory physiotherapy can also help to understand and improve breathlessness or a cough where no cause has been found by medical investigations.

If your breathing doesn’t feel right we will work with you to find a solution together.

You must be 18-years of age or older to use our services.

  • Initial Assessments are carried out via video call. We will have an hour to talk through the presentation of your conditions, your background, and discuss your physical symptoms.

It is helpful to conduct the appointment in a quiet, private space where you can freely move around as this may enable an element of physical assessment over the video call.

Following the Initial Assessment call you will be provided with a summary and a recommended management plan to help you decide if respiratory physiotherapy is something you wish to pursue.

  • Following the initial assessment we can use shorter appointments to introduce exercises and management strategies, provide you with helpful resources, and progress the approach to your treatment as you improve.

The number and frequency of the appointments depends on you as an individual, but we take a flexible and individualised approach to ensure the best management approach.

The packages we offer are designed to provide a structured approach to your follow up.

  • Yes. A chronic cough is definitely something respiratory physiotherapy can address.

However, if you have had your cough for longer than 3 weeks, please ensure you have consulted your GP in the first instance and completed and necessary medical investigations before utilising respiratory physiotherapy.

  • For individuals struggling with long covid we can provide support with strategies to manage fatigue and breathlessness. A personalised and holistic approach will be tailored to you as an individual.
